Since the start of the season, Davon Potts has repeatedly said he wants to do everything to help San Beda win the championship.

With the Red Lions now in the Finals, the Fil-Am scorer said that he’s ready to go the extra mile just to secure the hardware for the squad.

“I’m a big competitor, I said that in the beginning, and I do what it takes to win,” he said.

Potts did what he does best, unleashing nine of his 16 points in the fourth quarter to help San Beda advance to the title round with a 78-63 over Perpetual on Tuesday. More importantly, he did the dirty work, finishing with three rebounds, three assists, and a steal.

But the job still is not over for the Red Lions, who need to beat a tough Arellano side to regain title.

“Honestly, they’re a great team,” he said. “We humble ourselves, we go in every single game humble. We don’t feel like were better than everybody. We go in square one, see what we can do to adjust to them.

“Arellano is in the Finals for a reason. We just have to make our adjustments going to the Finals,” he said.

Potts also expressed his willingness to make his mark on the defensive end, especially with Jiovani Jalalon and Kent Salado expected to lead the Chiefs in the championship duel.

“Whether it’s guarding one of their point guards to make sure they don’t set up the offense, I’m willing to contribute whatever it needs to do to win,” he said.

But Potts made it clear that if the opportunity presents itself, he wouldn’t shy away from scoring the basketball.

“If my team get looks for me to get those big shots, I’ll do that,” he said. “At the end of the day, I want to win. I always want to win.”

“Hopefully, we’ll come out and we’ll play our hearts out. We do what we can to come out with the W.”
