Glenn Khobuntin has replaced Rey Guevarra as the fourth member of the Philippine team which will compete at the 2016 Fiba 3×3 World Championship.
The NLEX forward will pair up with Mac Belo, Russel Escoto, and 3×3 veteran Karl Dehesa for the country’s campaign in Guangzhou, China from October 11 to 15.
A former National U Bulldog, Khobuntin is no stranger with the Far Eastern U duo as they battled in the UAAP before teaming up with Belo to win the gold medal in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games.
Rey Guevarra has been pulled out of the lineup with his mother ballclub Meralco making it to the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals.
That leaves Dehesa as the only player with prior experience in 3×3 basketball after seeing action for Manila North at the 2015 Fiba 3×3 Manila Masters and 2015 Fiba 3×3 World Tour Finals in Abu Dhabi.
The Philippines is in Pool C, where they will face off against European contenders Spain, Poland, Romania, and Hungary in the group stages.
