NLEX believes Guiao will take Road Warriors to ‘next level’

NLEX has formally welcomed its new head coach Yeng Guiao to the Road Warriors franchise.

“We formally welcome Coach Yeng to the Road Warriors team,” said team governor Mon Fernandez Friday in the statement. “With his championship experience and passion for the sport, we are certain that Coach Yeng will take our team to the next level.”

“We look forward to a very fruitful and dynamic partnership, not only in the field of basketball, but also in the socio civic programs of our company.”

Guiao, who has been a professional basketball coach since 1990, spent his past five years with the Rain or Shine franchise where he won two titles, the 2012 Governors’ Cup and the 2016 Commissioner’s Cup.

On Wednesday, Guiao joined the NLEX franchise after his Rain or Shine contract expired replacing Boyet Fernandez as the head coach of the Road Warriors.

“We thank Coach Boyet for his valuable contributions to our team, including the record six PBA D-League championships that we won,” said Fernandez. “He developed the Road Warriors to be a competitive team. We want him to continue to play a role in the basketball activities of our Group.”
