MANILA, Philippines—World No.1 and World 8-Ball Champion Dennis Orcollo says he is ready for war when he goes up against World Pool Masters tormentor Ralf Souquet of Germany in the Philippine Bigtime Billiards Face Off Series on November 5 at the Pagcor Airport Casino in Parañaque City.
“I trained hard for this fight so I can give a good show for pool fans,” said Orcollo, top player of Bugsy Promotions who lost to Souquet, 5-8, in the World Pool Masters final last month in Manila.
“It’s also excellent training for me for the coming Southeast Asian Games in the second week of November,” added Orcollo, a former fisherman from Bislig, Surigao del Sur.
Souquet, former World 8-Ball and 9-Ball champion, will arrive this Wednesday in time for a joint press conference with Orcollo at the Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines headquarters in Quezon City.
“I will do my very best,” said Souquet.
A race-to-9 10-ball affair, the Face Off is set to give Philippine billiards another milestone. The event will be the first to be aired on the Internet at www.megasportsworld.com. Solar Sports will telecast the duel on Sky Channel 70 and Destiny Channel 34 every Saturday.
The Orcollo-Souquet match will usher in a series of challenge matches being put up jointly by Mega Sports World and BRKHRD Corp.
Other matches pit Carlo Biado vs Souquet on Nov. 12, Ronato Alcano vs Daryl Peach of Britain on Nov. 19 and Francisco “Django” Bustamante vs Peach on November 26.
The PBB Face Off series is being held in cooperation with Pagcor, PCSO, Accel, Diamond Table, Predator cues, Simonis cloth, San Miguel Beer Pale Pilsen, Malungai Life Oil, I-Bar, Human Plus Probiotics, Golden Leaf Restaurant, Hermes Sports, Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines.
