QC International marathon lures 15,000

Elma to conduct running clinics

MANILA, Philippines—About 15,000 runners are expected to participate in the SMDC Quezon City International Marathon, which dangles a condominium unit as raffle prize for race finishers.

The annual race, which looms as the biggest event in the city in terms of number of participants, slated on December 4 and organized by the Executive Runners Club (Runnex) will feature the premiere 42K race and 5K, 10K and 21K categories.

In preparation for the event, Runnex is conducting two running clinics to help train first-time participants in the 21K and 42K events.

One of the clinics is part of the Discovery Running Series, where Olympian Elma Muros-Posadas will serve as guest coach at the University of the Philippines-Diliman Academic Oval on November 26.

Registration sites are SMDC showrooms in SM Megamall, SM North Edsa and the Mall of Asia; Mizuno stores in Megamall, MOA, and Bonifacio High Street; Second Wind at Teacher’s Village, QC and at the Runnex office at Bahay ng Alumni in UP Diliman.

Registration fees for the 5K and 10K events are pegged at P500 and P600, respectively, while 21K race participants will be charged P750. Registration fee for the full marathon is P850.

Also backing the event are Maxima Machineries, Meralco, Mizuno, Hyundai, BPI, SSS, Gatorade, Maynilad and Manila Water. Media partners include the Inquirer, Star, Bulletin, Business Mirror, Business World, Malaya, ABS-CBN, GMA 7, Studio 23, Auto Review NBN4, Aksyon Sports 92.3 NewsFM, Takbo.ph, Total Fitness, Pinoy Fitness, Frontrunner and Action Fitness.
