Pocari Sweat tacked on another win in the Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference, taking down University of the Philippines in straight sets, 25-20, 25-16, 25-23, Saturday at San Juan Arena.
Breanna Mackie capped off the Lady Warriors’ night with a through-the-block kill that no Lady Maroon was able to fend off.
Lady Warriors head coach Rommel Abella said he is now looking at a team who is trending upward as evidenced by its 2-1 record.
“Hopefully ito na kasi nakikita namin gumaganda na yung laro ng mga players, nag je-jell na sila,” said Abella, whose team lost its opener. “Kung i-assess ko mga nasa 85 percent to 90 pa lang.”
“We have a lot to improve on more, especially sa receives.”
Pocari let UP score on 21 spikes but the Lady Warriors fought fire with fire when it unleashed 44 of its own.
Mackie led the Lady Warriors with 23 points while Myla Pablo and Michele Gumabao combined for 17 points.
Marian Buitre led the Fighting Maroons (1-3) with eight points.
