Ferrer says he’s already used to ‘never say die’ mantra

This early, Kevin Ferrer is already excited to join crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra.

“Sobrang saya ko at excited kasi Ginebra nga yun, fan favorite. Pero rumors pa lang naman eh. Ready naman ako kahit anong mangyari,” he said Friday at the 2016 Slam Draft Suite.

Ferrer thinks that if things go his way, it will be a perfect situation for him for a myriad of reasons.

First, it allows him to fulfill his dreams to suit up for his favorite team and favorite coach.

“Favorite team ko yung Ginebra, and si coach Tim Cone, favorite coach ko din. Gusto ko talaga maging coach sya eh kaya talagang excited ako,” he said.

It will also give him the chance to link up with former Growling Tigers Aljon Mariano, whom he was teammates with for several years, and Jervy Cruz as part of the Gin Kings.

“Reunion ng King Tigers yun ah,” he said. “Sabi nga nila once a Tiger, always a Tiger. Sobrang saya din kasi nandoon yung mga higher batch ko.”

Known as a reliable scorer and versatile defender, Ferrer believes he has what it takes to help Ginebra win. And there’s no denying that the 6-foot-5 forward also has the character of a Gin King.

“Sa tingin ko, madali naman akong makakapag-adjust eh. Sa UST naman, talagang never say die pa rin kami. Sa akin lang, di ako humihinto, basta laro lang,” he said.
