PSL: Niemer stars as Petron stays unscathed
Petron leaned on Stephanie Niemer’s leadership and all-around game to disrupt Cignal and prevail, 26-24, 21-25, 25-13, 25-17, Saturday, keeping its record clean in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at FilOil Flying V Arena.
Niemer delivered 22 points, 19 in attacks, to lead the Tri-Activ Spikers to their fourth straight victory and hand the HD Spikers their second consecutive defeat.
Article continues after this advertisementNiemer, the top scorer for PSL-Manila in the recent FIVB Women’s Clubs Championships, got enough support from her teammates who collectively made 56 attack points, 14 more than that of Cignal.
Cignal stole the second set mainly on defense with 10 blocks against Petron’s one. But the HD Spikers also committed more errors, 33-24, while Petron issued more aces 7-3, three of them coming from Niemer.
The American import also helped up in defense, making 15 excellent receptions and eight digs for Petron.
