With Globalport loaded with firepower, Pessumal turns to defense
Joining an offensively potent GlobalPort squad, Von Pessumal knows that it would take more than just his sniping to find his niche in the team.
“I feel that the only way I can stay on the court is if I play defense,” he said.
Article continues after this advertisementThough the former Blue Eagle gained fame through his three-point shooting, Pessumal shared that it was different back in his high school days in Ateneo.
“I was defensive player in high school, and I feel I can bring back my game in high school,” he said, eyeing to be more of a two-way player in the PBA.
And it will definitely come in handy as he joins a Batang Pier crew which bannered by high-scoring guards Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle.
Article continues after this advertisementPessumal will also have to share the court and playing time with established shooters Nino Canaleta and Karl Dehesa, a quandary the 23-year-old is willing to accept given the depth of GlobalPort in his position.
“I think I can provide offensive firepower off the bench. Whatever the coach is ask me to provide, if he wants to play defense, I will also do it,” he said.
