Foton coach Moro Branislav is far from impressed even after the Tornadoes’ sweep of the first round of eliminations.
Foton downed Cignal, 25-17, 25-21, 16-25, 25-14, last night at Filoil Flying V Centre for a 5-0 card in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix but the Serbian coach said it was still below his expectations.
“I normally push my team to win 3-0 but one day’s it’s good, but another day it’s not,” said Branislav in halting English. “It’s good we sweep but playoffs more important.”
Foton cemented its hold of the top spot despite the absence of 6-foot-4 Jaja Santiago, who is training with the National U team in Japan.
Lindsay Stalzer unloaded 20 points to lead Foton.
Later, Petron bounced back from a loss to Foton three nights ago with a 25-22, 25-19, 25-10 beating of F2 Logistics.
The TriActiv Spikers stayed in second spot at 4-1 while snapping the three-game winning run of the Cargo Movers, who dropped to 3-3.
Cignal, which lost its third match in four starts, missed injured import Lynda Morales.
