Jayson Castro and TNT finally struck a deal a week away from the opening of PBA’s 42nd season.
The four-time Best Player of the Conference signed a three-year, P15.2 million deal on Saturday to keep his talents in the Philippine shores.
Castro has been absent from TNT practices since the team’s ouster in the 2016 Governors’ Cup, opting to rest after almost three years of non-stop action for the ballclub and the national team.
Clubs in the Chinese Basketball Association were trying to woo Castro for the past month, with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers among the suitors.
Had Castro signed up for the Chinese team, he would have paired up with Filipino naturalized player Andray Blatche in the squad.
The Kapampangan’s return to the KaTropa is definitely a big boost as he continues his partnership with Ranidel de Ocampo and rising star Troy Rosario under the guidance of incoming head coach Nash Racela.
TNT also re-signed veteran big man Danny Seigle and Alex Nuyles in separate deals.
