Ray Parks a huge boost for Alab Pilipinas, says Cuan
Ray Parks is officially joining Alab Pilipinas, the Philippine representatives in the new season of the ASEAN Basketball League.
The team confirmed Parks’ addition on Friday upon the arrival of former UAAP MVP in the country.
Article continues after this advertisementHead coach Mac Cuan, who is tasked to lead Alab Pilipinas in its maiden campaign in the regional league, welcomed Parks’ inclusion to the the team made up of mostly ex-PBA players.
“You have Bobby Ray on your team, you’re smiling,” said Cuan Thursday on SportsIQ, the Inquirer’s omni-platform sports show. “Bobby Ray will be a great help for us because we have a lot of shooters.”
Cuan plans to utilize Parks’ playmaking skills that would open the floor for his team that is filled with shooters.
Article continues after this advertisementJeric Fortuna, Val Acuña, Jens Knuttel, and JR Cawaling have all established themselves as capable shooters and all Cuan needs is someone to give them the ball.
“Because the ABL is a different ball game from the PBA which is more on isolation, ABL is an international league so it has more ball movement, player movement,” said Cuan.
“Bobby Ray will be our creator and will make plays for us.”
Parks is scheduled to start training with the team on Saturday with Alab Pilipinas’ first game less that two weeks away.
Alab Pilipinas opens its ABL campaign on November 27 against Singapore Slingers at Alone Sports Center in Biñan, Laguna.
