No more excuses.

With Star dropping its second game in the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup, Marc Pingris shared the reason why the team has been struggling early.

“We’re not following coach’s instructions,” Pingris said.

The Hotshots had a monumental collapse in their season opener against San Miguel, 96-88, and was unable to recover from their lackluster start in their 91-84 loss to GlobalPort on Friday.

Taking the blame away from coach Chito Victolero, Pingris said what hampers Star from winning games is its stubborn attitude.

“You can see it in our games. We want to win games to a point that everybody wants to be a hero. Coach keeps on reminding us that we have to share the ball and to always practice defense,” he said.

“We have to trust each other. Whoever is open, whoever has a good game, we have to help him.”

The veteran forward also said that the Hotshots are left with no other choice but to rectify their miscues and bounce back next game.

“Every loss gets you down, but what you have to think about is how you can rise next game,” he said.

“We need to learn from these losses. Chemistry should no longer be the issue. The new coach and new additions also shouldn’t be an excuse. What we need to do is to step up and decrease our turnovers because there’s where we start collapsing. We’re also forcing our shots so we have to correct those in our next game.”

Pingris ended: “It’s now on us players. Coach always reminds us on what we have to do, but it’s on us players on how we’ll trust each other on the court. If there’s no trust between the players, you can’t build a good team.”
