San Miguel took the easy way to the top of the PBA Philippine Cup standings with a demoralizing 106-80 victory over struggling NLEX Saturday at Xavier University Gym in Cagayan de Oro.

The Beermen are now at 4-1, leaving behind 3-1 teams Globalport and Rain or Shine at second, while the Road Warriors skidded to their fourth straight loss.

Alex Cabagnot was the high-point man for the Beermen scoring 18 points to go along four points and four rebounds while reigning three-time MVP June Mar Fajardo had a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double.

Arwind Santos also had 15 points while grabbing eight boards for the defending PBA Philippine Cup champions.

Kevin Alas, Baradwyn Guinto, and Jonas Villanueva had 12 points apiece to lead NLEX.

Asi Taulava and Garvo Lanete returned to the NLEX lineup but it was only the veteran big man who put up discernible numbers with seven points and four rebounds.
