PSC eyes more stars from Palaro
The Palarong Pambansa talent search engine produced the likes of former track and field stars Lydia De Vega-Mercado, Elma Muros-Posadas and swimming idol Eric Buhain.
The school-based national Games, however, hasn’t generated athletes with the same celebrity status for a long time.
Philippine Sports Commission Chair Butch Ramirez immediately recognized the need to discover talents from the Palaro and will closely work with the Education department, organizer of the 59-year-old sports institution.
“We should be aggressive in discovering athletes for the national team,” said Ramirez.
