V-League, PSL, ABL must secure GAB licenses
As far as the Games and Amusements Board is concerned, the Shakey’s V-League, Philippine Super Liga and the Asean Basketball League are all professional in nature.
“Most of them say their players receive only allowances, not salaries,” said GAB commissioner Fritz Gaston. “But we have information that their players have contracts and that’s one major consideration in determining a professional league.”
Alab Pilipinas represents the Philippines in the ABL.
GAB will coordinate with the Bureau of Internal Revenue to implement its mandate.—June Navarro
