Despite big win, there’s room for improvement for Beermen

San Miguel swingman Marcio Lassiter can see things the final score doesn’t show.

Despite the Beermen bludgeoning Barangay San Miguel into submission, 109-82, in the Game 1 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals on Friday, Lassiter said there are still things they have to improve on.

“I wouldn’t say everything went right for us, it may seem like that but we made a lot of mistakes,” said Lassiter who had eight points and five rebounds.

“There were a lot of turnovers we committed so there’s always something we have to correct.”

San Miguel turned the ball over 21 times, five more than Ginebra, and that allowed the Gin Kings to tack on 21 points on their fastbreak attempts.

And Lassiter knows they can’t make the same mistakes again in the series.

“We have to come prepared for Sunday [Game 2],” said Lassiter. “We have to keep it going and play well. We want to peak at the right time and play our brand of basketball.”
