With ‘Beeracle’ in mind, San Miguel hopes to get job done

The PBA Philippine Cup will always hold a special place in the annals of San Miguel.

San Miguel has won the league’s most prestigious trophy a total of six times, tied with the Purefoods franchise, but not bigger than its 2016 comeback which is considered greatest in PBA history.

After falling 0-3 in the 2016 series against Alaska, the Beermen would go into a frenzied beer run and win the remaining four games to win the title in what became as the “Beeracle.”

But now that the Beermen have the early lead in the Philippine Cup Finals, Arwind Santos hopes to get the job done.

“The Beeracle, when we came back from 0-3, that was one of the sweetest things we’ve ever done,” said Santos after they steamrolled Ginebra 109-82 in Game 1 of the Finals Friday at Mall of Asia Arena .

“But that was one of the hardest thing’s we’ve ever did.”

Santos said they wouldn’t want to experience the same fate they dealt to the Aces a year before.

“I hope that doesn’t happen again and now that we’re in the lead,” said Santos, who had nine points and six boards. “We’ll take advantage of the position we’re in and finish off the series.”
