Adamson University captain Jema Galanza remains optimistic despite her team’s horrendous start in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament.

The Lady Falcons are all but soaring as they fell to a disappointing 0-6 slate Saturday at Filoil Flying V Centre after losing in straight sets to University of Santo Tomas 25-13, 25-12, 25-9.

Galanza, though, hopes they can improve come the second half of the season.

“I want to show them that even though we’re at 0-6 we can still fight our way up,” said Galanza. “This season’s not yet over, it’s just the first round and we still have the second round ahead of us.”

“Things can still happen.”

Adamson has yet to win a set this season and with just one more match remaining in its first round schedule the Lady Falcons have to come out with a better performance in the second round.

The Lady Falcons are dead last in every scoring statistic this season and thing’s aren’t better in the non-scoring aspects of the game.

Adamson is 6th in the league in digs and reception and 7th in sets.

Galanza said her team’s immaturity is also a factor why they’ve fallen behind in the standings.

“I think our problem is not everyone has the emotional toughness to play well in this league,” said Galanza who’s been in the UAAP for four years. “And most of our players in the team are still kids and this is their first season in the UAAP.”
