Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz can routinely lift a combined total of 200 pounds on an ordinary day.
But the country’s weightlifting heroine swears that much of her strength comes from a controlled and monitored diet heavy on protein.
“Aside from the usual training and conditioning, I have to consistently fuel my body with proper nutrition,” said Diaz during the Test of Will fitness challenge organized by Under Armour on Sunday at Glorietta Makati.
During the Rio de Janeiro Olympics last year, Diaz’s breakfast consisted of 10 eggs—two whole, eight whites—sweet potato, high-fiber wheat bread, whey protein, brown rice and fruits, prepared by iChef Concepts.
The 24-year-old from Zamboanga is preparing for the Asian Indoor Games in Turkmenistan in September and the world championships in Anaheim, California, in November.
