Cignal and Petron run into each other even as Foton tries to bounce back from an opening-day loss in the Belo-Philippine Superliga Invitational Conference Thursday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.
After winning their respective games in the inaugurals, the HD Spikers and the Blaze Spikers are looking to stay on top in the short conference ushering the PSL season.
It’s going to be personal for Cignal coach George Pascua, who is the former Petron mentor before he was replaced by Shaq delos Santos for the retooled Blaze Spikers.
“As I have always told the players, it’s Foton and Petron which are the stronger teams so they are our target,” said Pascua.
The HD Spikers are flaunting an improved lineup with new additions Jovelyn Gonzaga, Honey Royse Tubino and Rachel Anne Daquis. Petron will have stars Mika Reyes and Carmela Tunay leading the way.
Foton goes up against Cocolife, which will finally have Denden Lazaro in the roster, marking the popular libero’s maiden appearance in the league. —MARC ANTHONY REYES
