Cignal, Racal dispute top semis seeding

Co-leaders Cignal-San Beda and Racal square off for the No. 1 spot as the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup elimination round heads to its most crucial stretch at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

With both the Hawkeyes and Tile Masters owning 7-1 records to nail the two automatic semifinal berths, the winner of the 5 p.m. match automatically seals top spot.

Cafe France tries to lock up a twice to beat advantage in the quarterfinals when it clashes at 3 p.m. with also-ran Batangas.

The Bakers are coming off a loss to the Tile Masters last week, effectively snuffing out their hopes for an outright semifinal berth.

Cignal will be gunning for an eighth straight victory against a Racal team that dumped Cafe France, 82-78, last week on the strength of Rey Nambatac’s late explosion.

“We want to carry our streak over to the playoffs,” said Cignal coach Boyet Fernandez, a six-time D-League champion coach.
