It was Generika-Ayala’s turn to whip hard-luck Sta. Lucia Realty, 25-21, 25-13, 25-16, Saturday to keep its semifinal hopes alive in the Belo-Philippine Superliga Invitational Conference at Muntinlupa Sports Complex.

The Lifesavers were never in trouble in securing their second win in four matches, flustering the Realtors in the attacks department, 40-16.

The rookie Realtors are still winless in four starts.

Angeli Araneta topscored for Generika with 14 points, while Mikaela Lopez and Gen Casugod helped up with nine points each in the game that lasted just over an hour.

“Although it would take a miracle for us to get in [the semifinals], we’re very optimistic we can make it,” said Generika-Ayala coach Francis Vicente, also the head coach of the National women’s team in the Asian Senior Women’s Championship in Manila and the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, both slated in August.

Generika also had more digs, 30-22, to underscore its superiority in defense, while setter Angelica Legacion edged Sta. Lucia counterpart Djanel Cheng, 18-9.

Generika will try to upset unbeaten Petron in the final playing day of the eliminations on Thursday that would give them a chance to make it to the next round.
