Mitchell one-ups old friend Chism
Tony Mitchell erupted in joy following Star’s 105-103 thriller over NLEX on Friday that was decided by a game-winner.
Not only did Jio Jalalon’s game-winner preserve the Hotshots’ unblemished 3-0 record, the win also allowed the import to one-up his old friend and Road Warriors’ reinforcement Wayne Chism.

Mitchell shared that he and Chism go from way back, with the former growing up watching the latter play summer basketball.
“I love Wayne Chism. That’s my brother. In the summer, I was a young boy and Wayne is way older than me. I used to watch Wayne in AAU all the time. Wayne is somebody I look up to playing when I was coming up, but as professionals, this is the first time we played against each other. It was fun,” said the 24-year-old Star import.

Mitchell finished with 23 points, 15 coming in the fourth, to go with 15 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks for Star despite playing foul-plagued all game long, while Chism racked 33 markers and 19 boards for the Road Warriors.
Happy to share this moment with his old friend, Mitchell hopes nothing but the best for Chism as their teams part ways, with Star enjoying joint second place at 3-0 while NLEX stayed at the cellar at 0-4.
“Hopefully, they get a win next game, but they can’t win this one. We got this and I’m about to talks**t to him all the time,” he said with a smile.
