Jovelyn Gonzaga, who led Cignal in its championship run, was named MVP of the 2017 Philippine Superliga Invitational Saturday.
Gonzaga, the veteran spiker, was one of the HD Spikers’ anchors and she had seven points in a straight-sets win over the Foton Tornadoes in the last day of the tournament in a game where her team virtually clinched the title.
Gonzaga’s teammates were also recognized during the awarding ceremony.
Jheck Dionela was named Best Libero, Chie Saet took home the Best Setter award while Rachel Daquis and Maica Morada was the tournament’s 2nd Best Outside Spiker and 2nd Best Middle Blocker, respectively.
The 25-year-old Gonzaga earned her 2nd MVP plum in the PSL.
Other awardees were Petron’s Ces Molina (1sr Best Outside Spiker), Japan’s Chihiro Fujiwara (1st Best Middle Blocker) and Foton’s Mary Grace Berte (Best Opposite Spiker).
