Filipino fighter Mercito Gesta had a triumphant return after outpointing Mexican Gilberto Gonzalez Sunday (Manila time) at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.
Despite hitting the canvas in the third round, Gesta got the judges’ nod, pulling off a unanimous decision victory, 99-91, 98-92, 96-93.
As per BoxingScene, Gesta controlled the fight from the fourth until the sixth rounds, and after trading shots in the seventh regained momentum in the final six minutes.
The fight was Gesta’s first fight in 18 months.
