UST gets inside track for 3rd spot, blanks UP

University of Santo Tomas gained vital ground in the Final Four race after dismantling University of the Philippines, 25-20, 25-21, 25-16, in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament Sunday at Mall of Asia Arena.

The Golden Tigresses and the Lady Maroons had identical records going to the game but the lasses in black-and-gold walked out of the venue with an 8-5 record and the third spot in the standings.

UP slipped to 7-6 and tied Far Eastern University and National University, who are in a tight battle for a semifinals slot.
