Ateneo skipper Jia Morado said Sunday that the Lady Eagles’ win over University of the East in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament will eventually help the team on Saturday against rival and defending champion De La Salle.

The Lady Eagles took just three sets to dismantle the Lady Warriors, 25-18, 25-12, 25-10, to improve to 11-2.

Ateneo can take the top spot if it gets the victory over the Lady Spikers (11-2) with the defending champions holding a slim, 33-32 lead in points.

“We need each and every one of us to be confident when we face La Salle, because anyone can be pulled in to play,” said Morado after the game at Mall of Asia Arena. “We need every player in our team for that game.”

Only Jhoana Maraguinot, who was given the day off, and Janelle Lo weren’t fielded in the match against UE.

Morado added confidence will be key in their match against the Lady Spikers.

“I think my teammates will be more confident and will be even more aggressive,” said Morado. “And what will help us in Saturday will really be our teamwork because we don’t rely on just one girl.”
