MANILA, Philippines – Filipino pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao has arrived at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for the decisive third fight against Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez Saturday night (Sunday in Manila).
In a live coverage of the event that has been described as “A fight for the ages”, a calm and beaming Pacquiao, in a blue jacket, walked in with his wife, Jinkee, clad in a white body-hugging dress and shoulder-length hair, and his entourage.
Pacquiao and Marquez will face each other for the third time. Their first match in 2004 ended in a draw while their second in 2007 was a split decision in favour of Pacquiao.
Up for grabs is the WBO welterweight crown.
Before the main event, two Filipino boxers, Dennis Laurente and Fernando Lumacad, pulled off impressive wins against their respective foes.
Meanwhile, 23-year-old Juan Carlos Burgos from Mexico won via majority decision over erstwhile-undefeated Luis Cruz of Puerto Rico in the first official undercard match.
The judges scored 95-95, 97-93, 98-92 in favor of Burgos.
