UST’s Subido to miss UAAP Season 80
The Tigers’ woes continue.
University of Santo Tomas is set to miss a key returnee this upcoming UAAP Season 80.
Article continues after this advertisementRenzo Subido has opted to sit out this year after feeling that he hasn’t made much headways in his three years with the Growling Tigers.
In a statement posted on his Twitter account Thursday, the diminutive playmaker cited his displeasure with his performance so far in his collegiate career as the reason for him missing this year’s campaign.
“After much reflection, I have decided to sit out this year of college basketball. I have spent the last few weeks reassessing my performance during my first three years in the UAAP and I’ve arrived to the conclusion that I am not satisfied with how I’ve played,” he said.
Article continues after this advertisementSubido continued: “I want to dedicate the next months finding ways to improve my skills through the PBA D-League in order to return a stronger and better player. I’m sure that the team will do really well in the Filoil tournament and the upcoming UAAP season. I am surely going to root for the boys and I’m confident they can get a lot of wins. #GoUSTe”
The former La Salle Greenhills standout averaged 6.7 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists last year in UST’s eighth-place finish, just a year after losing tie battle for the championship against Far Eastern University.
Subido shared that he will take this opportunity to hone his skills with the AMA Online Education this upcoming 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup.
