Jeron Teng and Eric Salamat carried Flying V to a 77-all draw against Arellano Friday in the 2017 Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup Friday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Thunder dug themselves out of a 75-67 hole and came back roaring late, with Teng scoring the and-one followed by Salamat draining the trey to knot the score at 75 with 43.9 seconds to play.

Teng pushed Flying V to the driver’s seat with an open layup, but Kent Salado assisted on Ariel Aguilar’s game-tying floater with 10.5 ticks remaining.

The Thunder still had a shot to win the game, but Salado smothered Teng on his potential game-winning jumper as time expired.

“I feel this is really good for us. We had lots of learnings from that game,” said Flying V coach Eric Altamirano of his newcomer PBA D-League squad.

Teng led the Thunder with 19 points, 17 coming in the second half, to go with three rebounds, while Salamat shot 3-of-5 from rainbow country to wound up with 13 markers, on top of his eight assists and three boards.

Gab Banal also added 13 for Flying V.

Salado topped the Chiefs with 15 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, while Richard Abanes got 15 in the stalemate.

The game ended in a draw as Flying V’s games in the preseason tourney only serve as tuneup games for its campaign in the upcoming 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup. Hence, results of the Thunder’s games won’t be reflected on their opponent’s standings. IDL
