Cignal HD braces for a tough campaign as it leads the 11-team field seeing action in the upcoming 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup.
Coach Boyet Fernandez is hoping to replicate his previous feats where he won back-to-back titles dating back to his NLEX days.
But this time, he’s looking to keep the Hawkeyes at the top of the mountain after winning the past Aspirants’ Cup.
However, hot on their heels are last conference’s runner-up Racal, which is gunning to rebound after its sorry loss in the best-of-three Finals.
Also coming back this conference are contenders Cafe France and Tanduay, and returnees AMA Online Education, Batangas, and Wangs Basketball.
Completing the field are newcomers Flying V, Marinerong Pilipino, Zark’s Burger, and Gamboa Sports.
Six teams will advance in the playoffs after the single-round eliminations. The top two will gain outright semifinal spots, while three and four-seeds will enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
Semifinals and Finals will be disputed in a best-of-three series.
The 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup will tip-off on May 25 at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
