Superal virtual champ in Pal Junior World qualifier

Eagle Ace Superal virtually booked her trip after carding a one-under 71 to pull away by 14 strokes in the girls’ 11-12 years division with one round left in the Philippine Airlines IMG Junior World qualifying tournament at Ayala Southlinks.

The youngest of the celebrated Superal siblings finally cracked par on the third day and with a 226 total for 54 holes, Eagle Ace virtually buried Burberry Zhang (80-240).

The other leaders, however, would still grind it out on the last day of the tournament, the division winners of which will be rewarded with plane tickets to Los Angeles, California, by Philippine Airlines.

Sean Granada led by five in the boys’ 11-12 years; Nicole Abelar-Yap also had the same margin in the girls’ 15-18; while Nikolo Gatmaytan and Sophia Blanco led by two and three strokes in the boys’ 15-18 and girls’ 13-14 years, respectively.

Perry Bucay reclaimed the boys’ 13-14 years lead from Josh Jorge with his 71-222.
