Davao City pride Bornok Mangosong bucked the loss of his throttle grip and a determined opposition to come out with a crucial victory in the fourth and penultimate leg of the Diamond Motor Supercross series last Saturday at the Mx Messiah Fairgrounds.
The 25-year-old Yamaha rider and main man of Team Unstoppable Athletes Mindanao struggled in the first two of the tiring 20-lap PTT Pro Open race to emerge triumphant before a wildly-cheering crowd which braved the piercing heat.
‘‘When the going gets tough, the tough gets going , lost my throttle grip on the first 2 laps and after that the struggle was on,’’ said Mangosong, who also won the third leg of the series sponsored by Diamond Motor Corporation and supported byDunlop Tires, Dickies, Tireshakk, Yamaha Motor Philippines, Go Pro Philippines, PTT Philippines Corporation, DC Shoes, Coffee Grounds and Xtreme Adrenaline Sports.
‘‘But thanks to the man above for giving me the strength to endure the pain and I just kept fighting till the end,’’ added Mangosong.
JC Rellosa tried his best but had to settle for second place ahead of Nueva Ecijas’s Jerick Mitra.
The DC Shoes Ladies Class also delighted the sun-burned audience as Jasmin Jao of Black Mamba Energy Drink turned back the challenge of third leg champion Quiana Reyes of Bulacan. Third place went to Bhel Viste.
