Indonesia gets boost as key players cleared in time vs Gilas
After a long wait, Indonesia finally gets to parade naturalized player Jamarr Johnson and Indonesian-American Arki Wisnu beginning Wednesday in the 2017 Seaba Championship.
Johnson and Wisnu had clearance issues with Fiba and USA basketball that forced the two to miss Indonesia’s first four games.
Article continues after this advertisementBut on Tuesday, commissioner Wong Chung Min of Malaysia finally got word from Fiba, allowing coach Antonius Ferry Rinaldo to finally field a complete lineup.
“Indonesia already received the proper documents that will let the two players play,” said the tournament official.
Despite Johnson and Wisnu’s absence, Indonesia was still able to take care of business by going 4-0.
Article continues after this advertisementJohnson and Wisnu’s addition is just in time for Indonesia, which clashes with the Philippines on Thursday in a game that would most likely determine this year’s champion.
Johnson and Wisnu make their debut against winless Myanmar on Wednesday.
