Philippine taekwondo, one of the country’s go-to sports in international competitions, will start a brand-new search for the next champion this weekend at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

At least 1,500 young jins will vie in the two-day Meralco/MVP Sports Foundation National Face of the Year Championships.

“This event will highlight the progress of taekwondo in the Philippines and give an opportunity to show and demonstrate their ability in effective techniques and styles,” said taekwondo association vice president Sung Chon Hong.
