Dela Rosa dominates GT kickoff
Patrick Dela Rosa ruled the Sprint and GT Final races with amazing ease as the 2017 Yokohama Philippine Grand Touring Car Championships series fired off at Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario town.
The victories gave Dela Rosa, driving a modified Honda Del Sol, the premier GT200 crown over defending champion Edwin Rodriguez.
Dela Rosa won the 10-lap Sprint race by 56.833 seconds over Rodriguez with a time of 19 minutes and 29.298 seconds. He returned in the afternoon to top the 17-lap final race by two minutes over Eduardo Suiza in 33 minutes and 6.521 seconds, as engine gremlins doomed Rodriguez’s bid.
Suiza settled for the GT150 title with newcomer Paolo Santos ruling the GT100 race. STEVE SILVA, CONTRIBUTOR
