Beleaguered Growling Tiger Marion Bonleon of University of Santo Tomas stressed Thursday that he will be skipping the upcoming UAAP Season 80 after a falling out with head coach Boy Sablan.
Bonleon said he would readily accept the consequences of his actions after he went on a tirade against Sablan in an earlier report saying the UST head coach lacked the acumen in leading a team.
He also claimed in the same report that Sablan is inclined to give more minutes to players who had more “money.”
“What I said was true, and what I said weren’t all that delicate because I can defend myself and the things that I said,” said Bonleon who now plays under the AMA Titans in the PBA D-League. “I will accept the consequences of my actions, because I know it’s my fault.”
Bonleon, who will have two more remaining playing years with UST, added he won’t return to the team as long as Sablan stays as its head coach.
The 6-foot-2 forward said he felt sorry for the UST supporters because he saw how the Thomasian community got cheated with what is happening in the team’s dynamic.
He even added that it might have been “God’s will” that he was able to speak up against Sablan.
“I guess this is God’s will that I talked because the Thomasian community has the right to know what’s really happening,” said Bonleon. “It’s just sad because they’re wasting their time and effort to go to the arenas and show their support.”
“Still, this is my fault. I’m only human and I would like to apologize to everyone involved.”
