Eric Menk is spending his first retirement days piling up his YouTube page with stories of his most interesting experiences in the country.
The retired Filipino-American PBA star recorded a moment of him riding a jeepney for the first time.
“I have lived in this country for twenty years and I have not once rode in a jeepney. So today, we’re gonna check that off the list and make an attempt,” Menk said before taking on the challenge.
Standing tall at 6-foot-6, Menk managed to squeeze into the vehicle and film his ride for a blog entry. “I fit in here, I have enough space,” Menk chuckled upon sitting inside the jeep.
During his trip, he chatted with the jeepney driver and fellow commuters, whom he described as friendly and hospitable.
“It’s nice to get out there and meet the people who are so friendly,” Menk said. “I’m glad I did it. Maybe I’ll do it again. Seems like an easy way to get around.”
Earlier this month, Menk, 42, officially retired after playing for 16 seasons in the PBA. He was hailed as season MVP in 2005 and has three finals MVP awards. Menk initially played for Tanduay, then for Barangay Ginebra for 12 years, briefly for GlobalPort, and finally moved on to the Alaska Aces in 2016.
