San Beda ran roughshod to its second straight win in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup with a 68-55 beating of University of the East Friday at the tournament’s namesake arena in San Juan.

The Red Lions, who played their first game in the preseason tournament later than some of the teams, are now at 2-0 to remain spotless in Group B while the Red Warriors are at 2-4.

San Beda had to weather an early storm from the Red Warriors after falling 21-12 in the first quarter.

The second period became a different scenario for the Red Lionss as they outscored UE, 26-7, to close the second half.

“It was a bad start,” said San Beda head coach Boyet Fernandez whose team went on a week-long training camp in the United States at the start of the tournament.

“We need to change our mentality in terms of starting a game because we were down in the first but we managed to hold on and allow just seven points in the second quarter.

Arnaud Noah led San Beda with 16 points and eight rebounds while Javee Mocon had a 10-point, 10-rebound line.

Alvin Pasaol had a game-high 19 points and six rebounds to lead UE.
