UST-KAMENOGORSK, Kazakhstan— Out from the rubble, the Philippine volleyball team was taking shape.
After Rebisco PSL-Manila’s eighth place finish in the Asian Women’s Club Championships here Wednesday, the players who would compose the 12-player roster had become clearer than before, according to national head coach Francis Vicente.
He expressed disappointment because the squad—which forms the nucleus of PH team—ended up last in the meet after playing minus its usual oomph against Vietin Bank of Vietnam, 25-13, 25-18, 25-15, at Boris Alexandrov Sports Palace.
But for Vicente, it provided him a guide when he gets to prune down the national team from 18 members to the final 12 for the coming Southeast Asian Games and Asian Seniors.
“At least you would know who will stay and who will go,” said Vicente, whose charges lost all six games here, including twice to Vietnam, the reigning Southeast Asian Games silver medalist.
