San Beda made easy work of University of Santo Tomas, 86-59, in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup Sunday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Red Lions now have an immaculate 5-0 record to remain atop the standings in Group A while the Growling Tigers’ 1-6 card puts them at the cellar.

San Beda head coach Boyet Fernandez said their dominant win over UST was a show of the team’s character after they fought tooth-and-nail against University of Perpetual Help to come away with a 64-61 overtime win.

“We’re happy we bounced back from a bad game against Perpetual, that’s what I told the boys after the game and that was really a bad game,” said Fernandez. “It’s a character test for us today and they started really strong.”

“I also gave everybody a chance to play and all my players played well today.”

San Beda fired on all cylinders immediately putting up 24 quick points while limiting UST to just 10 and that proved to be the story of the game as the Growling Tigers never found the offensive groove to counter the Red Lions.
