It took two weeks before Krystal Rivers made his debut in the Premier Volleyball League.
It was worth the wait.
Rivers made up for lost time with a game-high 20 points to lead Pocari Sweat over Bali Pure in four sets in Game 1 of the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference Finals Saturday night.
“It was a lot of fun, playing with my team is a lot of fun and the energy from the crowd was amazing,” Rivers told reporters after a 22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 26-24 win.
Rivers said she was satisfied with her performance, but her coach Rommel Abella knows his American import still has a lot to show.
“Actually, we’re still not that impressed. Based on what she has been able to show us during practices, she can still do a lot better,” said Abella.
“We expect more surprised from her next game,” Abella added, sending a subtle warning to Bali Pure.
Rivers had to wait for a couple of weeks before getting the go-signal to suit up due to some issues with her FIVB clearance.
She was tapped as replacement for Edina Semilovic, who hurt her hamstring in April and was eventually deemed out for the rest of the conference.
