Torres upends GT favorites
Davao’s former national champion Willie Torres swept the Sprint and Main Races to clinch the GT300 title in the second leg of the Yokohama Philippine Grand Touring Car Championships at Clark International Speedway recently.
Driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Torres turned in the fastest lap time of two minutes and 12.176 seconds in the time trials and then ruled the nine-lap Sprint Race by a massive 37.310 seconds over first-leg winner Patrick dela Rosa.
Dela Rosa settled for the GT200 title. —STEVE SILVA
