Third quarter run lifts Rain or Shine past NLEX in pre-season

Rain or Shine went on a big third-quarter run to comeback and beat NLEX, 96-89, in the preseason Tuesday at Upper Deck Gym in Pasig City.

The Elasto Painters rose from 15 points down after outscoring the Road Warriors, 38-19, in the third period with Don Trollano and Maverick Ahanmisi leading the way.

Trollano finished with 20 points on 4-of-6 shooting from downtown while Ahanmisi added 16 points, both providing the spark off the bench.

The Painters improved to 2-0 in the preseason a day after beating the Phoenix Fuel Masters, 95-91. They hope to go 3-0 against winless Alaska on Wednesday.

Rabeh Al-Hussaini continued his impressive play with 16 points and 10 rebounds after scoring 21 points in the Road Warriors’ 106-100 win over the Aces on Monday.

Kiefer Ravena, the second overall pick by NLEX, had 14 points and five assists while a visibly slimmer Asi Taulava added 12 points and four assists.
