Iñigo Anton sealed a banner season with the Front Wheel Drive overall title against seasoned veterans in the final round of the Slalom Series held late last year at Robinsons Starmills in Pampanga.
The Castrol–Yokohama driver, a rookie in slalom races, clocked 39.16 seconds around the tricky course for his sixth Front Wheel Drive Best Time award of 2017.
He beat 2015 champion Richard Gallardo (39.84) and 2016 winner Jevoy Moreno (40.07).
Anton thus became the youngest driver in the 30-year history of Philippine slalom to capture both the Front Wheel Drive and Novice overall crowns.
“I can’t believe we actually did it,” said Anton, who also clinched seven overall class wins.
