Despite unbeaten record, Torres not rushing for a title shot
Jomary Torres has quickly emerged as one of the top contenders in her division but she feels that she’s yet to reach the championship-caliber level that she wants herself to be in.
“I’d like to enjoy the win first. I think I’ll still have a hard time contending for the title,” she said after preserving her immaculate 4-0 record with a win over April Osenio in ONE: Global Superheroes on Friday.

“It feels good that I tested my mettle against a fighter from Team Lakay. I’m happy with the outcome,” she said.

The win kept the Zamboangueña’s amazing climb up the ranks after her shocking second round submission win over Thai fan favorite Rika Ishige and a unanimous decision conquest against Indonesian Nita Dea last year.
Torres feels she can still improve on a lot of things before aiming for loftier goals — especially a shot against newly-minted ONE women’s strawweight Champion Xiong Jingnan.
“I’m developing my wrestling and boxing, same with my ground game,” she said. “We’re always ready.”
Her coach Rene Catalan, though, said their camp is always ready for any opportunity that pops up.
“Whoever opponent ONE gives us, even if it’s short notice, we’re always prepared. We’re training three times a day and whoever opponent they put against Jomary, I know that she’s ready to accept that fight,” he said.
