Hope Christian High stuns skidding Ateneo five
MANILA—Hope Christian High School stunned defending UAAP Champion Ateneo de Manila University, 80-76, in the fourth FCBL Freego Cup at the Buddhacare Gym in Quezon City.
Errol Villar rallied Hope Christian with 18 points and Freego player of the Game awardee Raymond Tan scored 12 for Hope Christian which improved to a 3-1 record.
Defending UAAP champions Ateneo has now suffered two straight losses after falling to Mapua in their previous game when Jay Hernandez exploded for 40 points to help the Red Robins to a 78-74 triumph.
Anton Asistio and Tomas Ramos both scored 17 points in a losing effort for the Eaglets (1-2).
In other games, Adamson University downed Far Eastern U, 80-73.
FEU now lost two in a row, including an overtime defeat to Hope Christian, 74-71.
