Arellano repeats as NCAA cheerleading champion

Arellano University ended its athletic season on a high note after taking home the NCAA Season 93 cheerleading competition title Friday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The win marked the Chiefsquad’s second straight cheerleading title, and third overall, but they are still behind by six trophies to University of Perpetual Help.

The Chiefsquad displayed a near flawless and an almost perfect pyramid that garnered them a total of 234.5 points.

“This is the product of the team’s hard work and we dedicate the victory to the whole Arellano community and our school officials who have supported us through thick and thin,” said Chiefsquad head coach Lucky San Juan.

The Altas Perpsquad came in second as the nine-time champions compiled a total of 226 points.

Perpetual head coach Ruf Rosario said he’s still proud of what his team had done but promised to take the title in Season 94.

“That’s life, you win some you lose some,” said Rosario. “I’m still proud of the team and we will come back stronger next season.”

The San Beda Red Corps rounded out the podium coming in as the third placers with a cumulative point total of 193.5 points, making it their best finish in its 14-year inclusion in the exhibition.
