Kobe Paras on Gilas Cadets’ Filoil stint: ‘I’m all for this’

Kobe Paras has showed interest in joining the Gilas cadets as participates in the upcoming 2018 Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup.

On his Twitter account, the 20-year-old swingman responded to the news of the cadets’ stint in the summer tournament and said, “I’m all for this.”

In response, Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes replied to Paras and wrote: “Lezzgo! Practice on Wednesday.”

Paras recently left California State University, Northridge and announced his decision to go pro, with all signs pointing to him declaring for the 2018 NBA Draft this June.

Reyes is using the summer tournament as a chance for the young players in his “23-for-2023” list to get their first taste of action together as a unit as they take on collegiate squads preparing for their mother leagues.

Expected to suit up for the squad are Ricci Rivero, who recently departed from La Salle, as well as graduates J-Jay Alejandro and Abu Tratter.

As for the other players, Reyes has said that they will only be allowed to don the national tri-colors if their schools does not have a scheduled tiff in that game day.

Ateneo’s Thirdy Ravena, Isaac Go, and Matt Nieto; Robert Bolick, Javee Mocon, and Kemark Carino of San Beda; CJ Perez of Lyceum; Paul Desiderio, Juan Gomez de Liaño, and Will Gozum of UP; Ken Tuffin and Arvin Tolentino of FEU; Jeo Ambohot of Letran; Kai Sotto of Ateneo High School; and Carl Tamayo of Nazareth School of National University are all part of that list.

Reyes has yet to submit the official roster he will parade for the Filoil tilt.

Gilas cadets open its campaign in the preseason tourney on opening day on April 21 against Ateneo.
